ASEM is the acronym for the Asia-Europe Meeting. The objective is to improve the relationship between the two regions and stimulate business operations.
The first ASEM in 1996 consisted of 15 EU member states and 7 ASEAN member states plus China, Japan, Korea and the European Commission.

The ASEM dialogue addresses political, economic and cultural issues, with the objective of strengthening the relationship between the two regions, in a spirit of mutual respect and equal partnership. They meet every two years.
Being in the EU means having a voice in these meetings and the links Spain-Asia are now stronger because we are part of the EU.
